With more bands under her belt than one can imagine, drummer Kristar
Miller can keep the beat to any style of music from country to rock to blues
to reggae. With one of these additional bands,
Strange Heroes, she has received winning recognition in two categories of the Northwest Arkansas Music Awards,
including "Best CD."
Miller is also a poet and a songwriter and her depth of emotion, formidable beats, and well-timed phrases make her an asset to any band she's involved with. |
Raised in a musical family, Angela Edge took up the trumpet at an early
age and was playing bass guitar by the time she was 14. She has attended the
University of Arkansas on a music scholarship, played with four Fayetteville
bands, and has been performing with Jori Costello for over three years.
Edge is well recognized in the Ozark area for her bass playing skills.
Touted as an intricate and complex musician, she plays everything from
alternative to classical to folk. Most recently, Edge and Costello have been co-writing original songs based on Edge's lyrics with melodies composed by Costello. |
Progressive folk with a jazz flair and then some. Costello's songs and voice have been added on many compilations to benefit area organizations. "Past the Pain", recorded on the "Band Together" CD benefits the Arkansas Children's Shelter. "To the Aid of the Nation" CD features Jori's harmonies on "Beatuiful World" by Strange Heroes with proceeds going to the National Democratic Party. The Omni Center for Peace, "Peace CD and Songbook" benefits the Omni Center for Peace, Justice, and Ecology and features Costello's, "War Games". Most recently an article about Costello was featured in a book, "Arkansas Mosaic" highlighting Arkansas independent journalism.
Costello's first CD, Home Grown, showcases a diverse style of
songwriting ~ reflecting common struggles in life, personal journeys, the
power of women, and hope. |
